The Royal St. John's Regatta is North America's oldest annual sporting event with documented proof of 1816 boat races. There is credible contention that St. John's regattas were held even earlier than 1816, likely in the 18th century.

Highly recommend! Lisa is a fabulous hostess she makes the best parfaits in the morning to start the day! The rooms are very homey, the heaters by the fire place just adds to the peaceful environment. She's close by to the pedestrian mall it's a nice down hill walk to there, but be prepared for an up hill climb if you're not used to hills, as I'm from the flat lands of Florida.I also really enjoyed the afternoon tea she put out. The cakes were amazing!I would love to come back and bring my mom to explore St. Johns. The community and locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. I wish I could have stayed longer! This was my first true B&B experience and she has set the bar!
Lisa & her home epitomize the concept of a great bed & breakfast. The room was so comfortable & clean. She thought of everything…from lemon infused water in the room, to eye glass cleaning packets in the bathroom. Never seen that before. The home has been lovingly redone while maintaining the feel of the original style with some beautiful stained glass windows, original wood on the stairs & a fireplace in our room, that has now been converted to electric. The breakfasts were wonderful & the afternoon tea with homemade baking & chocolate covered strawberries was a special treat! There is a well appointed pergola in the back yard as well as a cute bistro area in front. Lisa was very welcoming & had many helpful suggestions for sights to see & places to eat. We would highly recommend the Rock’s Signal Bed & Breakfast. Thanks again Lisa!
Thank you so much for this amazing review! It was a pleasure to host you and Bob! I am so happy you enjoyed your stay in our home at The Rock's Signal Bed and Breakfast! Take care, and we hope you can visit again!
Lisa took care of us like we were family. She is a lovely host. Our room was cosy and was equipped with everything we could have wanted. Breakfasts were delicious and big….we usually skipped lunch! The location of her home was a short walk to restaurants, bars and the Rooms. We were even close to enough for a longer walk to Signal Hill.
Lisa was a gracious host and messaged me before we arrived to ensure that she offered me food that I could eat because of my food restrictions. We were in the Deluxe Queen Suite and appreciated the thoughtful extras, bathrobes, slippers, makeup mirror, small refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, and a Brita filter water container (no plastic bottles!) just to name a few. Lisa made a delicious treat every afternoon and we were thoroughly pampered. One of the best surprises was the fact that the room was very quiet, this is a lovely old house but has been renovated with lots of insulation, we did not hear the people in the room next door. Extremely comfy, spotless and walking distance to most of downtown St. John's and the waterfront.
We stayed at the Rock’s Signal earlier this month and it was the best. It is an adorable, clean place in a great location. Lisa was amazing and welcoming, and made us wonderful food. The afternoon snacks were also simply delicious! We will be recommending this place to everyone!
Wonderful hospitality for two-night stay in a perfect location! We will definitely stay there again the next time!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The location of the bed and breakfast is walking distance to many incredible restaurants, a museum, hiking trails, whale watching tours, gift shops etc. The room was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and had all essential toiletries in the bathroom. Lisa made a delicious breakfast every morning and was a very attentive hostess. I would give it 6+ stars if I could. I left feeling pampered and refreshed.
We stayed for three nights in the Royal Regata room in mid-August 2023. The queen bed was was very comfortable. The ensuite bath was large and very well lit, which is appreciated. The entire house is super clean. It is located in the old part of St. John’s near a lot of attractions. A parking pass for on-street parking is provided.Lisa was a great cook and host. Breakfasts were excellent and varied over our stay. There was more than enough to eat, and quite often we did not need a lunch, just a mid-day snack. Home-made treats for afternoon tea were very delicious. Tea and coffee always available.Lisa is very knowledgeable about the area and provided suggestions for our stay. Our arrival was late in the evening, which was no problem. Some B&B’s are very strict about arrival times.Booking was very easy online. Lisa even applied the early bird discount that I had overlooked which was greatly appreciated. Overall, a great introduction to Newfoundland and our entire trip to Atlantic Canada.
A truly first class Bed andBreakfast. I would not hesitate to return there. Our host Lisa is a true professional. She served up a healthy breakfast each day with close attention to detail. Everything was fresh and beautiful. Almost like stepping back in time when you walk in.
Don’t hesitate, just book! The location is a short walk away from restaurants, stores, and the water. And even better it’s a short walk away from The Rooms which is a must-visit. The breakfasts in the morning were healthy and delicious, and my being a vegetarian was no problem at all. My room was super clean and comfortable. I didn’t have a single complaint my whole visit. Highly, highly recommended!
